Atmospheric Pressure:

I am interested in the compression of space, and diminishing the illusionistic perspective that we are accustomed to seeing in aerial photography. This series is ongoing investigation into solving the visual problem of space through depth and flatness in aerial photos.  These images are about a type of visual play that creates tension between the foreground and background and blurs the distinction of these formal elements. These works deemphasize the importance of the subject of the photograph and focus on the composition as whole. This focal shift challenges the way photography is typically viewed. This work is influenced by my painting studies and by my interest in how artists have dealt with the issues of perspective, space, and the picture plane for centuries.
